Do you feel you will never measure up to the expectations of others? Maybe you dont feel pretty enough or good enough. Or, just the opposite, maybe youre the type of person that not only feels prettier, but better than anyone else.
As a Christian, these types of feelings can seriously hinder your work for the Lord. You see, when you dont feel good enough, then you will feel what you do for the Lord wont be good enough. And when you feel like you dont matter, you will feel like what you do wont matter either. This is why the devil plants the seeds of unworthiness and low self-esteem. He wants to hinder you from spreading the gospel.
On the other hand, maybe Satan is trying to convince you that youre too good to do the work God has called you to do. Maybe he is whispering in your ear that, although God has called you to go to the slums and witness, youd fair much better with a television program on TBN that airs coast to coast and around the world. That way, you can at least dress up. After all, youre just too good to be brought down on the level of real people.
Listen to me, when you think youre too good to get down on the level of real people that is when youve allowed the devils seeds of arrogance and unhealthy self-esteem to take root. (Unhealthy self-esteem meaning: thinking too highly of yourself) If youve allowed this to happen, you, my friend, have an image disorder.
Satan had an image disorder. At one time he was one of the highest-ranking angels in Heaven, if not, The highest-ranking angel in Heaven. But, when he allowed it to go to his head he became arrogant. And when he became arrogant, He starting thinking that he was better than God.
Just because the devil was a high-ranking angel didnt make him better than God. And just because he thought he could take over and rule the roost didnt mean God was going to allow him to. Actually, God gave Satan an attitude adjustment by kicking him out of Heaven.
Do you need an attitude adjustment? Are you thinking too highly of yourself? If you think youre the most from coast to coast, better think again. Read Matthew 23:12, and Romans 12:3.
